Henry Boot Barnfield submits Huyton plans
The joint venture developer has submitted plans to Knowsley Council for a mixed-use development off Cronton Road in Huyton.
The brownfield site is located at the Tarbock roundabout, at the junction of the M62 and M57, and could see 480 jobs created within the four plots that make up its 11.5 acres, the developer said.
Henry Boot Barnfield – made up of Henry Boot and Lancashire construction group Barnfield – is applying for full consent for an Aldi food store, and outline consent for further parts of the site, including a petrol station, a family pub/restaurant and commercial units.
Planning permission was granted for a mixed-use scheme at the site in 2011 but expired in 2016. Henry Boot Barnfield acquired the site from RBS West Register (Property Investments) in 2015 and announced the scheme, as Beacon 62, in April last year.
A spokesman for Henry Boot Barnfield said: “This is a really exciting scheme for Tarbock and Huyton, and will provide much-needed employment space for start-up businesses and already-established organisations.
“Knowsley is becoming an attractive destination for investment, and with over 480 jobs being created, this development would provide a real boost to the local economy. After consulting with the local community, it is clear that there is an overwhelming demand for investment and employment in this part of Knowsley, and the majority of local residents have backed our proposals.”
A public exhibition was held in April, with 76% of feedback received being supportive of the scheme.
