Heaton’s 16-storey Preston resi approved

The block is to include 200 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as four office units totalling 3,000 sq ft on the ground floor.

The apartments at developer Heaton Group’s scheme, known as The Exchange, will have floor areas ranging from 400 sq ft to 800 sq ft, and the building will also feature a communal lounge, shared working space, gym, landscaped courtyard, roof garden and terrace.

The Exchange will sit on the site of the now-demolished job centre at Bhailok Court on Pole Street, and be stepped in height from seven to 16 storeys.

The plans incorporate amendments to a scheme approved in 2019, adding an additional 19 apartments, reducing the floor-to-ceiling heights and adding another storey without making the building any taller.

A spokesperson for The Heaton Group said: “Forming part of Preston’s Stoneygate Masterplan, the design of the building compliments others in the area with a modern design that features dark grey and bronze exterior to ensure The Exchange is contemporary, yet timeless.

“We’re proud to be investing further into the city and look forward to sharing more about our plans over the coming months.”

The Heaton Group have developed four other residential schemes in Preston, including Bishopsgate Gardens, a 130-apartment scheme in the city centre.

Blocking out light for the old persons flats across. Affecting my sisters TV signal. Making the road like a wind tunnel. Creating dirt filth and dust in my sisters house. Nobody has thought about the effect on the elderly residents. House pavement Road pavement then this huge monster rising up directly across from the residents. Its built entirely in the wrong place. What about social housing?? Nothing about any of that where are people supposed to live? It’s not all about commuters and students there’s local.people who need housing. Also light and a TV signal.
