The Manchester-based Livingcity group of companies has achieved certification in two international standards for health and safety, and quality management.
The OHSAS 18001:2007 helps organisations to identify potential hazards and implement preventative procedures which aim to reduce accidents, illness and costs. Attaining certification shows that Livingcity's health and safety policy and objectives provide a clear understanding of a safer working environment both within its headquarters and the schemes under management.
The audit in order to achieve the 18001 health and safety standard included reviews of the health and safety management systems for each division within the Livingcity group, an appraisal of the management system, legal requirements and an evaluation of compliance along with a site visit, interviews with senior management and site staff, as well as an examination of all health and safety procedures and reporting.
The second award, the ISO 9001:2008, sets out a set of key principles that ensure a common sense approach to the management of all business activities. The standard is also designed to consistently achieve customer satisfaction and ensure continual improvement.

The Livingcity Group was founded in 2000 and employs 30 people at its Manchester head office in Ardwick Green. There are also more than 100 dedicated service personnel based onsite across its portfolio of managed developments. Manchester buildings under its management include Chorlton Mill, The Hacienda and Green Quarter.
