HCA grant for East Lancs homelessness projects

Burnley-based social housing organisation Calico Group has successfully bid for £1.485m in from the Homes & Communities Agency to build developments aimed at providing accommodation for homeless people.

Calico said it will review a number of development options in Burnley. Anthony Duerden, chief executive of Calico, said: “We are very pleased that Burnley and East Lancashire will benefit from this investment and we would like to thank the HCA for their support. We’re delighted that the work this funding will go towards will help make a positive difference to people’s lives. This work supports our ongoing commitment to deliver and develop affordable quality homes in Burnley.”

Calico was formed in April 1999 following a stock transfer of nearly 5,000 homes from Burnley Council.
