HCA awards £1.7m for two Cumbrian schemes

Forty new homes will be built in Carlisle after funding was released by the Homes & Communities Agency.

The homes will be built at two schemes in the area. Seatoller Close will contain 16 units for rent and seven for sale, delivered by Riverside Housing Association. Gelt Rise in Brampton will be developed by Two Castles Housing Association and will contain 17 new houses.

It is anticipated that work on the new homes will start on the Seatoller scheme in January 2011. Two Castles will begin on site at Gelt Rise in November 2010 and is due to complete in August 2011.

The funding is part of a £24m investment covered by a recently signed Local Investment Agreement. The document means that the HCA and the Cumbrian local authorities will agree housing and regeneration priorities to co-ordinate investment across Cumbria.
