Hamleys upsizes at Liverpool One
Just one year after opening a 2,000 sq ft spot at the shopping complex, the toy store moved to another 3,000 sq ft unit.
The new Hamleys is located at 35 South John Street, taking over the old Paperchase shop space. Hamleys will use its additional 1,000 sq ft to showcase its wares of games, puzzles and more.
Previously, the toy chain was located at 101 Paradise Street.
“For Hamleys, the last 12 months at Liverpool One have been magical,” said Sumeet Yadav, chief executive officer for global retail business for Hamley’s parent company Reliance Brands Limited.
“It’s wonderful seeing all the smiling faces of families on their trip to the store,” Yadav continued. “Now we have an exciting opportunity in a new location to continue spreading the joy, in a way that only Hamleys can and we are looking forward to see the little ones trooping in.”
Metis and CBRE represented Liverpool One on the deal. CBRE also acted for Hamleys.
Liverpool One also announced that Lego and lifestyle retailer Kenji confirmed lease regears for their South John Street units.
Liverpool One is owned by Grosvenor Britain & Ireland. It boasts more than 170 different shops, restaurants and bars. Earlier this month, Grosvenor announced that Escape Live would open an escape room adventure at Liverpool One.
Hamleys are a big name, and their flagship Regent St store is legendary, they have now increased their space in Liverpool and hopefully grow here even bigger.
Success shows other big retailers that Liverpool is a place to invest.
