Halliwells staff face job cuts

Law firm Halliwells could lose up to 40 jobs across its four real estate departments, including its Manchester and Liverpool offices.

The firm has begun a secondary redundancy consultation, following a previous consultation in February of this year which affected eight jobs.

Halliwell's head of real estate, Mike Edge, said: "The property market is experiencing a sustained downturn and, having conducted a strategic review of our real estate department, it is clear that a restructuring process is required."

It is not yet clear how many jobs will be affected at the firm's Spinningfields office in Manchester, or at its Old Hall Street base in Liverpool.
