GVA acquires first UK store for Saffran Restaurants

The healthy eating chain will take the former Kro Bar unit in the Great Hall of the Trafford Centre.

Saffran took a lease on the 3,000 sq ft site until July 2023. GVA is sole agent for the Safrran Restaurant chain in the UK and depending on the reception to the Trafford Centre site, has been instructed to identify a number of further sites for Saffran in line with its plans to open up to 30 new restaurants over the next five years.

The Icelandic chain has recently expanded into the US, opening a restaurant in Orlando, Florida. It is now looking to expand to the UK market.

According to the restaurant's own marketing literature, it 'takes inspiration from European and Mediterranean food cultures and mixes this with traditional cooking methods from the Middle East, using healthy ingredients to create simple yet inexpensive dishes without the use of white flour or white sugar; and without any frying.'

Sammy Jones, associate at GVA, said: "It is exciting to be involved in bringing this new restaurant concept to the UK market.

"The Trafford Centre is a location with consistently high footfall, and will provide an ideal test bed to trial the concept. If successful, we will then work with Saffran to roll the concept out across the country."
