Guest leaves Bruntwood to go it alone

David Guest, who led the expansion of office landlord Bruntwood’s portfiolio in Liverpool in recent years, has left his full time position as regional director.

Guest has launched a regeneration consultancy aimed at advising public-private partnerships as well as helping cultural organisations realise their commercial plans. He is currently working with the Everyman and Playhouse theatre trust in Liverpool in its efforts to secure grant funding from the North West Development Agency to redevelop the Everyman.

Bruntwood has also re-hired Guest on a consultancy to represent its interests in his new role as chairman of the Liverpool Commercial District Partnership.

Guest commented: “I have enjoyed my role in building Bruntwood’s Liverpool business. The relationships I have formed over the past few years have created an exciting opportunity for me with the Liverpool Commercial District Partnership which I look forward to chairing as a consultant for Bruntwood.”

Guest helped Bruntwood dominate the Liverpool office market in the past few years with its successful refurbishment and rapid letting of the 350,000 sq ft The Plaza, the giant former Littlewoods headquarters on Old Hall Street, acquired in 2003.

In 2007, the firm acquired No1 Dale Street, and Cotton House and Cotton Exchange, both on Old Hall Street. The company has nine assets on Merseyside totaling nearly 1m sq ft of office space.

Chris Oglesby, Bruntwood’s chief executive, said: “I have worked alongside David for over 10 years and during this time he has been a great ambassador for our business. I am delighted he will continue to strengthen Bruntwood’s links with the city through this role with the LCDP. His commercial experience and relationships in the city, position him well to lead the partnership.”

Paul Rice, chief executive of the Liverpool Commercial District Partnership, added: “I’m delighted that David has agreed to continue his relationship with the partnership. He shares our aim of making the commercial district a European-class destination and it’s great that he’s still onboard.”

Bruntwood will not be replacing Guest with another regional director. The group board, based in the Manchester head office, will oversee development in Liverpool. Colin Forshaw, head of sales, is the most senior figure in the city now.
