Green Services Hub

Green Services Hub launches

The new Green Services Hub backed by firms including Savills, Willmott Dixon and Places for People, aimed at simplifying environmentally friendly procurement, is due to hold its first event on Thursday.

The free-to-join hub was set up in June to take the hassle out of buying green services, whether it's finding a solar panel manufacturer, sourcing an installer or getting funding or legal advice.

The hub's first event will be hosted by Places for People from 8.30am to 10am on Thursday 26 September at its South Rings office in Bamber Bridge, Preston and is open to housing groups, local authorities and other public sector organisations involved in procuring green services.

As well as gaining insight from a range of industry experts and suppliers the event will be an introduction to the hub's services and will show how organisations can get their projects off the ground.

The hub is run in conjunction with partner organisations, including Places for People, Baily Garner, Bevan Brittan, Savills and Willmott Dixon Energy Services.

Nicholas Doyle, project director at Places for People, said: "We helped to set up the Green Services Hub because we recognise the growing pressure on organisations to buy more energy efficient products and services. The Hub brings together top suppliers, consultants and lawyers in the industry who have already met the EU procurement regulations, saving members having to go through the lengthy and costly business of tendering. Places for People is pleased to be hosting the Hub's first event."

Following the first breakfast event in Preston, other events will take place: 8.30am in Leeds Town Hall on 2 October, hosted by Willmott Dixon, and on 10 October at Birmingham Botanical Gardens hosted by Bailey Garner. Other breakfast events are being planned in London.
