Green Rooms tower tops out

The Green Rooms, a 19-storey MediaCityUK residential scheme funded by Atlas Residential and IP Investment Management, has reached its highest point of construction.

Bouygues UK is the main contractor for Peel L&P and Legal & General Capital, MediaCityUK’s joint venture partners, which are delivering the 238-apartment development, next to the BBC offices and the Lightbox development on the Manchester Ship Canal.

US-based Atlas and Singapore business IPIM announced their acquisition of the site from Peel in autumn 2017, with the £55m scheme billed as the first forward-funded PRS development in MediaCity.

Jonathon Ivory, managing director of Atlas Residential UK, said: “The Green Rooms is situated in the heart of MediaCityUK and is within minutes of some of the UK’s most visited attractions.

“MediaCityUK is integral to Greater Manchester’s regeneration story and we are delighted to be part of this. Providing a mix of spacious and well-lit one, two and three-bedroom apartments was always our aim and we are close to completing what has always been a community-focused vision.” The Green Rooms’ amenities will include a business lounge and a gym with yoga and pilates space.

Selina Williams, executive director of IP Investment Management, said “We are delighted to have reached this key construction milestone in this, our first investment in the UK build-to-rent sector working with Atlas Residential. We look forward to seeing the realisation of Atlas’ vision when the building has completed and opens.”

Bouygues is also contractor on the Lightbox, which is funded by Barings. AHR is the architect on both.
