Go-ahead for Airport City logistics unit

Planning permission has been secured for the development of a 130,000 sq ft logistics facility at Airport City Manchester, with construction due to commence within weeks.

Located at Airport City Manchester's £100m global logistics site, the new-build property branded ALPHA is designed to meet the growing demand for small-to-medium sized logistics units.

Once complete in early 2016, the building will offer units from 17,500 to 35,000 sq ft arranged in a single terrace. Each unit will have office space and a fenced and gated yard with dedicated car parking and HGV delivery access.

The announcement of ALPHA follows the planning application submitted in December by MAG Property with Stoford for the creation of a 260,000 sq ft logistics unit at Airport City Manchester.

Airport City's global logistics site has outline planning permission for the development of 1.4m sq ft of logistics space and 36.6-acres of landscaping, granted by the local authority in November 2012.

The appointed agents working on the scheme are CBRE and JLL.

Lynda Shillaw, divisional property chief executive at MAG said: "We are seeing healthy demand for logistics property at Airport City and the ALPHA development is an exciting addition to the range of products available to occupiers."
