GMPTE issues car park buildings tender

The design and build of three decked car parks for park-and-ride passengers is the latest tender brief to emerge from Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive's £1.5bn improvement plan.

The car parks will be built in Radcliffe and Whitefield, North Manchester, and Hazel Grove to the south. Two will link to Metrolink tram services and one to rail.

The supplier will be responsible for obtaining full planning approval and Network Rail approvals. The contract, of unspecified value, is expected to be awarded by the end of the year with a view to starting on site in March 2010 on a 12-month build.

A spokesman for GMPTE said the tender is split into three lots and could see one firm appointed for each, or one overall contractor.
