Globe secures £2m contract with Trelleborg

The Warrington-based contractor has been appointed to deliver factory extension works for the marine engineering business.

Globe Construction secured the project through a tender process and is due to start on site at Trelleborg Offshore UK in Skelmersdale this week.

Works include a 40,000 sq ft steel frame extension to an existing factory building, above and below ground drainage systems, external and internal doors, installation of all electrical requirements, internal finishes, heating and compressed air systems and extensive external works.

Globe Construction is working with structural engineers, Clancy Consulting, and architects, Charter Design, on the design-and-build contract.

Ian Threadgold, director at Globe Construction, said: "The existing factory can no-longer keep up with demand. Delivery of the new extension will provide Trelleborg with a first class engineering facility better equipped to increase output and meet future order levels."

Steve Black, project manager at Trelleborg Offshore UK, said: "The extension of our Skelmersdale factory is vital for the future growth of our company."
