Galliford Try targets 2018 completion for Preston homes

Galliford Try Partnerships has started work on a 61-home scheme in Penwortham, just outside Preston, with the housebuilder targeting completion in summer 2018.

Plans were approved for the derelict 4.2 acre site off Hill Road South in Penwortham in July this year. Galliford Try acquired the land, which formerly housed a Places For People social rented scheme, from the Homes and Communities agency earlier in 2017. The development will be known as The Maltings.

The contractor and housebuilder has now started work on 30 three and four-bed semi detached houses, available for private sale through its Linden Homes brand.

Galliford Try will also build a further 30 two-bed apartments and two-bed houses, targeted at first time buyers through the Government’s Starter Homes initiative.

The contractor is aiming to complete the first homes at the development in summer next year, with the remaining homes completing in the following months on a phased basis.

Nexus Planning advised on the scheme, while Sten Architecture advised on the designs.
