Galliford Try kicks off Rochdale housing scheme

Galliford Try Partnerships has been picked by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing to build 39 houses in Smallbridge, supported by funding from Homes England.

Designed by MHA Architects, the scheme includes 39 two, three, and four-bedroom homes for shared ownership and rent-to-buy. Work started late last month and the project is due to hand over in autumn 2020.

The housing provider has pledged £25m towards regenerating sites across the borough, and secured planning consent for a 55-home scheme designed by Levitt Bernstein in Rochdale town centre last December.

This will see five existing 1960s blocks of flats demolished to make way for 33 one and two-bed apartments alongside 22 two and three-bed homes. There will also be a green space and play area at the centre of the development.

Gemma Wood, head of development and regeneration at RBH, said: “The feedback from local residents about these new homes has been extremely positive, and we’re really pleased to have the opportunity to deliver these new high-quality homes and provide new affordable options for local people.”
