Galliford Try appoints new regional director

The housebuilding and construction group has promoted Ed Wootton to lead its Building North West division from its base in Warrington.

Wootton replaced longstanding managing director Bob Merriman who is due to retire later this year after spending 50 years at the company. Wootton has been with Galliford Try for more than 20 years, starting as a graduate trainee in 1994, before working his way up through a variety of operational roles to the position of construction director until now.

Building North West was appointed on the latest North West Construction Hub framework and won the Holywell Learning Campus project in North Wales. The business has also recently completed a number of high profile projects, including Hotel Football in Old Trafford.

Ian Jubb, Galliford Try Building North and Scotland managing director, said: “Ed is a well-respected figure in construction in the North West and I know he will build on Bob’s excellent work as we continue to deliver our strategy for disciplined growth in the region.”
