Galliford Try appointed on Wythenshawe extra care scheme

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group has awarded Galliford Try a £14m contract to build a 135-apartment extra care scheme on Hollyhedge Road.

The scheme will provide a mix of 66 apartments for affordable rent, 39 apartments for shared ownership and 30 apartments for outright sale. A community hub facility will also be built.

The development is situated on two adjacent sites on either side of Hollyhedge Road with an interconnecting bridge link.

Once contracts are signed construction is expected to commence in the summer and last for 18 months.

Funding for the project was received from the Department of Health's specialised housing fund.

Wythenshawe Community Housing Group is based in East Wythenshawe and owns over 13,600 properties.

Pozzoni is the architect on the scheme.
