Traditional Mexican band Mariachi Tequila provided a lively opening, entertaining guests as they arrived at The Palace’s Whitworth Rooms suite for a drinks reception sponsored by Kier Group.

As the event moved downstairs to the ballroom for dinner, the music took a retro turn with swing band The Speakeasies, accompanied by The Vintage Dancers.

The room was at capacity with more than 70 tables, and guests had the opportunity for extensive networking while enjoying three-course fine dining from The Palace’s recently revamped kitchens.

The evening turned from dining to dancing as Mr Wilson’s Second Liners paraded into the room, with the band energetically entertaining Place Party with brass covers of 90s dance hits. To round off the night, DJ Nic Kozubik took to the stage until 2am, while guests enjoyed dressing up for some memorable photos in a photobooth provided by Dela PR.

Place Party was Place North West’s biggest event yet, jumping from 220 attendees for the inaugaural party in 2015 to more than 700. Guests included Capital & Centric, HIMOR Group, DAC Beachcroft, The Co-operative, Irwin Mitchell, BDP, GVA, Shoosmiths, Braemar Estates, AEW Architects, Feilden Clegg Bradley, Carillion, Peel, WHR Property Consultants, and Cowgill Holloway.

Simon Turner, director of sponsor Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “The Place Party was a great opportunity for informal networking. I was able to catch up with a wide network of people from Manchester and the surrounding regions.”

George MacMillan, head of banking and real estate finance at sponsor Kuits, commented: “Place Party is a unique opportunity to get all of the region’s property elite in the same place at the same time. We spoke with many of the attendees who highlighted how great it was to meet up with those that they hadn’t seen for a while and be introduced to people that they hadn’t met before.”

John O’Callaghan, managing director at Kier Group, said: “A fantastic evening of entertainment and all round good fun. The buzz about the room was testament to the evening’s success. Kier were absolutely delighted to be a sponsor of this year’s Place Party and have already signed up for next year.”

Paul Unger, editor of Place North West, said: “It was great to see so many people embracing what we are trying to do with Place Party – offer the industry a more informal business dinner without any stoppages and maximising the best part of the night – talking and having fun with friends, old and new.”
