The 106-bedroom spa hotel at Ainscough Group’s Adventure Parc Snowdonia in Dolgarrog is nearing completion and would be the first hotel from Hilton’s Garden Inn brand to open in Wales.
Contractor HH Smith & Sons started construction of the four-storey hotel last July and is entering the final eight weeks of the build programme. The hotel is due to complete in January 2021 and open to guests in March.

Facilities at the hotel include the Wave Garden Spa, corporate conference and meeting facilities, and a ground floor restaurant called Zephyr’s Restaurant & Bar, which overlooks the surf lagoon, part of the wider adventure park.
The Wave Garden Spa is to feature indoor and outdoor treatment areas, including vitality pools, a yoga studio, hammam and Himalayan salt sauna.
The Hilton Garden Inn, designed by Pozzoni Architects, is part of a wider £16m expansion of Adventure Parc Snowdonia, which included the construction of adventure facility Adrenaline Indoors that opened last summer.
Owner Ainscough Group is looking to double the size of the park’s workforce by expanding its activities and facilities.
The park opened in 2015, featuring a 300-metre surf lagoon and associated amenities. The five-storey Adrenaline Indoors activity centre was an expansion of an existing facility.
Hospitality has been one of the hardest hit sectors during the Covid-19 pandemic but news of Pfizer’s potential vaccine, which could be rolled out by Christmas, has provided a fillip for the industry.

After a quiet year, Ainscough is predicting a surge in bookings next year. “We’re beginning to see some real optimism return to our sector and that’s great,” he said. “I have no doubt North Wales tourism can make a robust recovery, and whatever happens next year, it will come back even stronger than before.”
