Working with Trafford Housing Trust and L&Q, Seddon Construction has kicked off a two-year build which will see an initial 120 homes delivered in Whalleys South, Skelmersdale.
Laurus Homes, the venture between THT and L&Q, secured reserved matters consent for the project in January this year, which features a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom houses.
Under the plans, 64 homes will be available for open market sale with 34 for shared ownership and a further 24 available for affordable rent.
The first homes are due to hand over in April 2020 with the whole scheme completing in November 2021; a second and third phase featuring a total of 179 homes is due to follow, subject to planning consent.
The land for the development was released by Homes England following a competitive tender.
Graeme Scott, development director at Trafford Housing Trust, said: “Considerable effort was put into the tender to ensure this strategic land drives regeneration, provides excellent homes, and helps people get a foot on the housing ladder – and now the hard work begins.
“Whalleys South is a key project in our development plan which will see 20,000 new homes built over the next 10 years by THT and our partner L&Q. Like the rest of the North West, Skelmersdale urgently needs great quality housing and we are determined to do our bit to ease and hopefully eradicate the housing crisis while helping communities thrive and councils achieve their economic success.”
