Further housing PFI cuts detailed

Two projects in the North West are among 13 schemes where £1.9bn of funding has been cut by the Homes & Communities Agency.

The HCA announcement follows the Spending Review Settlement for housing PFI projects. In a statement the HCA said: "The HCA will work with local authorities to consider future options. Consideration will be given in particular over the course of the Spending Review 2010 period to possible means and prospects to support local authority-led estate regeneration schemes including through non-PFI mechanisms. However, we do not wish to raise any expectation of alternative funding at this time given the department's tight Spending Review 2010 capital and resource funding settlement."
