FSL recruits Spice finance chief

Oliver Lightowlers, formerly finance director of electricity and water services company Spice, has been appointed chief financial officer of Salford-based residential developer Fresh Start Living.

The appointment is the latest step on FSL's way to a planned flotation later this year. Spice floated on the Alternative Investment Market in 2004 with a market capitalisation of £50m and moved to the full list of the London Stock Exchange in 2008. Spice was acquired by private equity firm Cinven in 2010 for £251m.

Lightowlers will work alongside FSL's newly appointed chief executive, Charlie Cunningham, who joined from City broker finnCap.

Lightowlers, a chartered accountant, qualified with Coopers & Lybrand in 1998. He is also a graduate of UMIST, where he gained a degree in management sciences.

FSL was founded in 2009 and has residential and student accommodation schemes in Manchester, Liverpool, Salford, Stockport, Nottingham, Bradford and Greenock, Scotland.
