Fresh development planned at Daresbury

Architectural practice Sheppard Robson and landscape architect Planit-IE have been commissioned by Langtree to draw up plans for two new commercial buildings at Sci Tech Daresbury to be built in 2015.

Details of the size and design of the buildings have not been released yet and are due to be revealed in the new year.

The buildings would be the first new development at the hi-tech campus since the 34,000 sq ft Vanguard House completed in autumn 2011. The £8.5m building was funded by the North West Development Agency and is owned by the campus trust, a private-public sector joint venture between Langtree, the Science & Technology Facilities Council and Halton Council.

Langtree was selected in October 2010 by the other partners to develop 1m sq ft of office and lab space over 20 years. The site was designated an enterprise zone by government in August 2011, giving it special planning and investment priority status.

Langtree declined to comment at this stage.
