Forrest completes for X1 at Great Ancoats Street

Contractor Forrest has completed construction of the £11m first phase of X1 Developments’ Eastbank scheme off Great Ancoats Street, Manchester.

The eight-storey building features 111 buy-to-let apartments, which have been sold entirely off-plan.

This is the first of three schemes Westhoughton-headquartered Forrest is due to deliver for X1 in contracts totalling £55.5m.

The latest appointment, agreed this month, will see Forrest build a 19-storey tower in Salford Quays. This scheme, X1 The Gateway, will bring the total number of apartments the businesses are delivering together in Greater Manchester to over 500.

Neil Ashworth, head of new build at Forrest, said: “Our appointment to the X1 Eastbank scheme marked our entry into large-scale private residential sector development. Since then we have established a strong partnership with X1 Developments, and the sector continues to be a driver for our growth plans.”

Melissa Green, operations and regional director of X1, said: “The speed which units in X1 Eastbank sold at is a testament to the quality development that we have produced.”

The developer, X1, seems quite capable of delivering good quality schemes in their home town of Liverpool. In Manchester however the jury is still out.
