Foot Locker takes biggest European store to Liverpool
Foot Locker has opened its largest store in Europe at Liverpool One on South John Street.
The 21,000 sq ft Foot Locker is located in former HMV store, which has moved to new premises on the site of the former Toys R Us.
The two-storey store will combine retail space with an in-store presentation area for customer experiences and events.
Commenting on the store, Nick Jones, vice president and general manager, Foot Locker Europe said, “The new store is the ultimate destination for sneaker fans in Liverpool and a great platform for the city’s many creative talents.
“Liverpool has such an incredible cultural history and scene that it’s the perfect destination to lead the way for the future of Foot Locker stores. We look forward to continuing to collaborate locally and support the local scene and community.”
Alison Clegg, director, asset management at Grosvenor Europe, said: “The experience-led focus of the store is another great example of how Liverpool One is enriching the experience for visitors, providing them with an offer unavailable anywhere else. The flagship opening strengthens our diverse mix of international brands, and cements our position as the strongest performing destinations in the UK.”
The Footlocker opening follows the launch of COS’s regional flagship on Liverpool One’s Manesty’s Lane last month, whilst ARKET is due to open on Paradise Street later this year.

Yes its exciting stuff! We have a few flagship stores now which is great news including Zara, Victoria’s Secret, Cos, now this – we just need a high end department store to liven up John Lewis as they are becoming a little complacent!

Great another sports gear shop. No reinforcing stereotypes of Liverpool going on there from Grosvenor.

Manchester’s retail scene is dying on its backside, thanks to the Arndale. People just don’t like shopping there unless they live locally and the misery of shopping in Manchester City centre is outweighed by the hassle of going further afield.

…strong demand in Liverpool. Most would agree its a nicer shopping experience than the hell of traipsing Manchester city centre, although sadly that’s probably not enough to draw most people east of Warrington.
