The Orange Building will be shared with ITV and be home to more than 1,500 students and staff from autumn 2011.

Facilities will include post-production studios, TV studio control rooms, broadcast radio studios, media technology laboratory, audio post-production facilities, social media suite and meeting rooms.

Jon Corner, director of Media City UK at Salford University, said: "When it's complete the new facility will offer a fantastic, flexible learning space which we believe will enhance creativity and interaction and lead to some really interesting collaborative ideas emerging.

"Added to that we are neighbours with both the BBC and ITV, along with a host of superb creative and digital businesses based at Media City UK. The potential for collaborative working and learning is huge and mutually beneficial, and both our students, staff and neighbours can look forward to a rich and rewarding experience."

The university will offer 39 courses to undergraduates and postgraduates from Media City UK.
