Flood defence contract comes to market

The Environment Agency is seeking a maintenance partner for a £780,000 four-year framework looking after flood defence pumping stations in the North West.

The work will be predominantly between Lancaster and the England/Scotland border and the requirement is for a mechanical and electrical supplier to provide repair and maintenance services for all agency installations. These include flood defence pumping stations and floodgates.

The work is currently carried out by the Freedom Group, based in West Yorkshire, following the acquisition of incumbent Agrilek of Barrow in Furness in August 2009.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 13 September
