Flixton Football Club to be sold at auction
Flixton FC’s ground in Urmston including six acres of brownfield land and buildings totalling 14,000 sq ft will be sold at auction later this month with a guide price of £850,000.
The site along the Manchester Ship Canal has the potential to be redeveloped and includes two club houses totalling 9,000 sq ft as well as a 5,000 sq ft changing facility. There are also stands, a car park, and a single apartment on the site.
Along with the buildings there is an area of car parking, the football pitch, and a former training pitch included in the site, which totals around six acres.
The buildings are all freehold, while the land is leasehold from Trafford Council.
The site will be sold at an online auction by SDL Auctioneers with a guide price of £850,000; Hyde Estates & Letting Agents had previously marketed the site for outright sale for £1.25m.
The football ground has not been in permanent use since Flixton FC resigned from the North West Counties Football League in 2012; the club dissolved in 2013 after poor supporter attendance.
It has been used on-and-off since then with Northwich Victoria using the ground, while AFC Flixton, a Sunday league team, has also used the site.
Marketed as a potential development opportunity, the site could be used for housing or commercial uses, given its nature as previously-developed land.
The online auction for the site will start on 18 January and run until 8 February. More details on the auction can be found here.

The people trying to capitalise on this sale are disalusioned. The land is owned by TBC and on lease. I have no doubt that the current owner is in default of his lease anyway. Lots of people put their life blood into this club and hopefully no one person will gain financially from their corrupt efforts.
