Fleetwood Town FC housing approved

Wyre Council has granted Roland Homes planning permission for 100 homes at Bourne Way in Thornton-Cleveleys in Wyre, as part of the delivery of Fleetwood Town Football Club's new training and community sports complex.

How Planning helped prepare the application for the community sports complex which was approved earlier this year, and submitted a full planning application for the housing on behalf of Roland Homes and NPL Estates.

NPL Estates gifted the land at Poolfoot Farm for the community sports complex to Fleetwood Town FC, which will re-provide the three existing playing pitches and associated playing field land. The residential scheme at Bourne Way generating the necessary capital to help enable the development.

Richard Woodford, partner at How Planning, said: "We worked closely with Rowland Homes and landowners NPL Estates to ensure that all existing playing field land is retained and relocated into the new Community Sports Complex. The decision benefits all parties as it not only enables the development of Bourne Way, but also enables the future growth of the football club."

The Lancashire-based club is hoping to deliver a community facility including a number of new sports pitches as well as a full-size synthetic pitch with associated changing rooms, classrooms and other facilities. The complex will become the club's training base and the home of Fleetwood Town Community Trust, who will continue their charitable work in the local community.
