FK Group at work on B&M distribution centre

Work to deliver the £2.5m external envelope of a new 500,000 sq ft B&M Stores distribution facility is being undertaken by FK Group, Manchester.

Working with the main contractor on the project, Eric Wright Construction, FK will be on site at the Liverpool International Business Park, Speke, Merseyside, for nine weeks.

The contract includes the construction of the building envelope, including roofing and cladding.

The building is being developed for B&M by UK Land & Property.

Due to be completed by Eric Wright Construction by October 2013, the distribution facility will serve over 300 of the retail chain's stores across the UK, which in turn accommodate over two million shoppers a week.

Francis Keenan, managing director of the FK Group, said: "We're delighted with our appointment to this project, which will facilitate the continued expansion of one of the UK's fastest growing retail chains.

"The timescales for the project are challenging but we have the resources and expertise to facilitate successfully."

Peter Barr, senior manager at Eric Wright Construction, said: "This project is likely to be one of the largest distribution facilities to be undertaken in 2013 and we recognised the client's expansion as an ideal vehicle to strengthen our presence in the industrial sector with robust supply chain partners."

DLA is the architect for the project.
