Five more join The Rock invasion

Hammerson has announced another flurry of lettings at the £350m The Rock development due to open in Bury this summer.

The Entertainer, an independent toy retailer, has taken 4,000 sq ft; shoe retailer Deichmann will occupy 8,300 sq ft; The Perfume Shop has signed up for 510 sq ft. Jeweller Peter Jackson has taken 2,100 sq ft and family-owned fashion retailer, Hurley, will trade from 3,100 sq ft.

All five are new brands to Bury. The Rock will contain 500,000 sq ft of retail, anchored by M&S, Debenhams, Primark and Next.

Meanwhile, Nikki Kitchen has been appointed marketing manager for The Rock. She was formerly at The Printworks in Manchester and has also worked at Shoppertainment and House of Fraser.

She commented: "To be a part of bringing such an important development to fruition is very exciting. There is a fantastic mix of retail and leisure operators already secured and the five new signings which bring new brands to Bury will certainly add to The Rock's retail appeal."

The Rock was designed by BDP and is being built by Laing O'Rourke. Agents on The Rock are GCW, CBRE and Nick Green & Co.
