First stage completion nears at Barons Quay

Cheshire West & Chester Council is due to hand over the first unit in its 225,000 sq ft Barons Quay retail and leisure scheme in Northwich by the end of the summer, to anchor supermarket Asda.

Asda is scheduled to open its new 68,000 sq ft foodstore to the public by the start of next year.

The other anchor tenant secured at the scheme is Odeon, which is due to open a five-screen multiplex cinema in 2017.

Balfour Beatty Construction is building Barons Quay, and McMullen Wilson and Lambert Smith Hampton are the retail agents.

Cllr Brian Clarke, cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure for Cheshire West & Chester Council, said: “Asda one of the key anchors to the Barons Quay line-up. Together with the newly extended M&S in the centre of the development, the 900 free car parking spaces, the restaurants and the cinema, it reaffirms Barons Quay’s position as a complete day out and offering visitors a high-quality combination of shopping and leisure previously unavailable in the catchment.”
