First Choice Homes planning new HQ

Savills and 5 Plus Architects are advising First Choice Homes Oldham on development of a new £7m headquarters in the town centre.

The initial plans are for a 30,000 sq ft headquarters to be built on a central site, possibly owned by the council, to be completed by October 2014.

Cath Green, chief executive of First Choice Homes Oldham, said: "It has been FCHO's long-term aspiration for several years to develop a new purpose-built high-quality headquarters and service centre within Oldham town centre.

"This building will accommodate FCHO operational staff and services in one central and easily accessible Oldham location replacing currently a number of relatively poorer offices and a depot.

"This will help improve our services and experiences for customers and communications between our staff.

"FCHO and Oldham Council are working together to explore and agree sites and designs although nothing final has yet been proposed or agreed.

"FCHO have already appointed preferred development agents and architects to undertake this development work and are now seeking to appoint a preferred main contractor for any finally proposed development."

The construction tender process is being run through the Chest online procurement system.
