First building in Lancaster science park approved
Lancaster University has been granted planning permission for an 85,000 sq ft health innovation building, as the first phase of a £40m science park.
The development site is to the north of the university’s Bailrigg Campus, long identified for development by the planning authority and already with consent for a 365,000 sq ft science park along with new highway access from the A6.
Lancaster City Council’s planning committee approved the application yesterday, which will enable construction of the first building on site, delivering a mixture of research, commercial and teaching space.
Work is due to begin later this year, with the building opening in 2019.
CBRE is advising on planning. The architect is John McAslan & Partners.
