Firethorn picks contractor for ‘UK’s largest speculative scheme’

Winvic Construction has been appointed to build the 760,000 sq ft Link Logistics Park in Ellesmere Port.

“As the UK’s largest speculative logistics scheme, this is an ambitious, yet hugely exciting development for Firethorn,” said Paul Martin, development director at Firethorn Trust.

“We have been impressed by Winvic’s extensive knowledge, experience and ability to deliver a project of this scale, and look forward to working with the team to swiftly bring our vision for Link Logistics Park to life.”

Firethorn Trust won approval for the 760,000 sq ft Link Logistics Park having acquired the 42-acre Port Cheshire from Peel Ports.

The development, designed by Aew Architects, features a 655,000 sq ft unit, the largest being developed in the UK this year, according to Firethorn.

Link Logistics in Ellesmere Port is Winvic’s second job for Firethorn after it delivered Ascent Logistics Park in Leighton Buzzard.

The contractor is due to start on site in the coming weeks and construction could wrap up before the end of the year.

The development will be net zero carbon in construction, according to Firethorn.

Winvic’s director of industrial, distribution and logistics, Danny Nelson, added: “Winvic’s reputation for delivering quality industrial schemes is being bolstered by our ability to deliver our clients’ net zero ambitions.

“It’s fantastic to be working on such a landmark development, whilst building upon our partnership with Firethorn, whose presence within the UK logistics market continues to grow.”

The letting agents for Link Logistics Park are CBRE, B8 and Moriarty & Co.
