Fire at Cheshire business park closes roads

A major fire broke out on Friday morning at Garratts Scrap Metal Yard on the Alvaston Business Park in Nantwich, leading to the closure of all major roads in the immediate area.

Five fire crews tackled the blaze and all major roads in the area were closed during the morning. There were no injuries.

By midday the eastbound carriageway of the Nantwich by-pass was reopened from Reaseheath roundabout to Sainsburys roundabout. The westbound carriageway remained closed.

At 2pm, Cheshire Fire & Rescue service said the number of appliances had been scaled down to two fire engines and the aerial appliance. Crews are continuing to dampen down.

All roads have now reopened.
