Final sign-off for £50m Patagonia Place

Construction of Peel L&P and Your Housing Group’s 278-apartment Liverpool waterfront scheme can now begin, more than five months after the project was approved.

Documents published this week on Liverpool City Council’s planning portal state that a legal agreement has been signed between the developers and the authority, clearing the way for contractor Vermont to start on site.

Darran Lawless, Peel L&P’s outgoing director of development for Liverpool Waters, said: “This is another important milestone on the way to delivering this development, and we hope to confirm a start onsite date in the near future.”

Part of Peel’s wider £5bn Liverpool Waters regeneration scheme, the 31-storey Patagonia Place project is designed by Falconer Chester Hall.

Affordable housing provider Your Housing Group will own and operate the tower under an arrangement with Peel L&P.

Updated plans for the Princes Dock scheme were submitted last May after Your Housing Group won consent for a residential tower on the same site in 2017.

The earlier iteration of the scheme was designed by Brock Carmichael but never progressed.

Patagonia Place forms part of a trio of towers at Peel L&P’s wider Liverpool Waters development.

Vermont completed construction of the first tower – the Hodder & Partners-designed Plaza 1821 – last summer, while the largest tower – Moda’s 35-storey The Lexington – is being built by BCEGI and topped out last August.

Great news. Let’s get this built

By David

Glad to see, slowly but surely, these empty plots being filled.

The Waterfront is spectacular but additions around this way and towards the plot for the stadium need to move with the times. Truly world class potential so let’s hope this is just one of many!

Great addition to the Waterfront , plus the stadium is going to be a catalyst for the Northern Docklands, Tobacco warehouse is starting to look like Tower Bridge London .
Beautiful

It will make a massive improvement to the skyline, between this and Everton’s stadium, we’re finally moving, we just need the Cruise Liner Terminal up and running now.

I beleive there is a development for about 70 storys on the cards near Evertons ground and dont forget the stadium is also going to be a music venue on the Waterfront also.

By Anonymous

Unrealistic to expect anything near 70 storeys being built, English Heritage, not to say economics, will see to that, but good to see Liverpool getting some good news for a change.

By Wirralwanderer

Wirralwonder when are they going to improve the Wirrals LCR waterfront ? Its stuck in post war Britain.
Always good news in Liverpool take a look over at us.

Yes Liverpool has had such a great deal of negativity this year especially it’s good to see the occasional good news story.

By Anonymous

Oh I agree Anonymous and it seems our council this side of the Mersey sadly lacks the wit to do anymore about it than Liverpool’s. Investment is not easy to come by.

By Wirralwanderer

Princes dock cluster starting to look impressive….hopefully the hotel planned for the waterfront will happen soon. To support the cruise liner terminal

Anything on what they might do with the sight that was meant for ovatus 2? I haven’t seen anything about it

Now November 2021 and still nothing on site and no futher news since March 26th 2021. What’s happening?

By David Clarke

Are there no balconies on this? Are no lessons being learned.

By Geoff

Still not broken ground on the project

By Anonymous

Be nice if this got some movement… Maybe have the company who did The Lexington have some input so they at least look the same and get the ball rolling…. the waste-site as it stands is a blemish on an otherwise wonderful dock
