Fairhursts appoints associate director

Manchester-based architectural practice Fairhursts Design Group has hired former Purcell associate Laura Sherliker, as the business eyes 10% annual growth over the next 12 months.

Sherliker has 16 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors and joins Fairhurst’s King Street office as associate director, having spent five years at the architecture practice Purcell.

During that time, Sherliker worked on projects including the Manchester Museum extension and developer Fortis’ £67m Bridgewater Wharf residential development in Salford.

Before joining Purcell, she spent two years as a lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire. Prior to that, she worked for two years as a senior architect at Lancashire County Council.

Richard Sagar, managing director at Fairhursts, said: “Laura will be a valuable addition to our senior management team as we navigate the challenging market conditions we find ourselves in and look to the future.”

Sherliker added: “[Fairhursts] is a practice where design-conscious projects that positively shape our environment through listening and teamwork are priority.

“It is fortunate to have a healthy portfolio within the region and beyond, and a management team committed to sustainable expansion over the coming years.”

Fairhursts Design Group employs around 55 people across its Manchester, Southampton and Cambridge offices.
