Ex-Cobbetts FD joins Birchall Blackburn

North West law firm Birchall Blackburn Law, which has nine branches across the region, has appointed James Boyd as chief executive of conveyancing.

Boyd is chairman of Weaver Vale Housing Trust in Cheshire and sits on the board of the Pier Head Housing Association in Liverpool.

Boyd worked at law firm Cobbetts for 13 years where he was finance director until the company went into administration in May 2013.

At BB Law he will oversee both the commercial and residential property departments across the Birchall Blackburn's eight offices in Chester, Chorley, Formby, Manchester, Morecambe, Penwortham, Preston and Southport.

Cathy MacCracken, partner at Birchall Blackburn Law, said: "The firm is always looking to the future and the strategic appointment of James will allow us to have a fresh focus on training and recruitment, seeking and developing local talent.

"It was a carefully considered selection process and James impressed the board with how he aims to take the firm forward into its next phase of development."
