Evoque supplier adds to Mersey presence

Acting on behalf of International Automotive Components, CBRE has acquired a 30,500 sq ft warehouse on Speke Approach in Widnes.

IAC agreed an assignment of a lease from Rentokil, which had three years remaining at a passing rent of £4.50/sq ft.

The unit in Wheldon Road was acquired in addition to the company's 77,000 sq ft building in Boulevard Industry Park, next to Jaguar Land Rover's Halewood plant.

IAC is the manufacturer of the dashboard and cockpit elements for the Range Rover Evoque, delivered on a just-in-time basis into the Halewood plant meaning that upon initial receipt of an order, the complete console is built and shipped to the Halewood plant within three hours.

Darren Hill, senior surveyor at CBRE, said: "This acquisition by IAC is another example of the growing importance of the Jaguar Land Rover effect on the Merseyside region. IAC needed additional space to accommodate the increase in demand from Halewood and we are pleased that we were able to negotiate this deal – particularly as there is now a real shortage of good quality industrial space in the region."

Brian Birtwistle of Birtwistle Property Consultants advised Rentokil. Colliers International was joint agent.
