Everton plots community building near Goodison Park
Everton FC’s charity arm has submitted a planning application to develop an 11,000 sq ft community building on Spellow Lane, Liverpool.
The site was previously Langham Court, a 44-apartment block, which was demolished in 2008. Since then, the site has been undeveloped and became a small grassland.
The proposal for a two-storey building would also would feature landscaped gardens, seating pods and a viewing terrace.
The site sits a few streets away from Everton’s current home at Goodison Park. Everton is currently on track to submit an application for a stadium at Bramley Moore Dock by the end of the year. The site, designed by architect Dan Meis, would hold 52,000 people. Plans for the Goodison Park site include its use by Everton in the Community.
Everton in the Community states its intention is to “make a significant social contribution; changing lives and providing opportunities for all participants, particularly the most hard-to-reach and hard-to-help members of society.”
Everton in the Community is the developer and Condy Lofthouse is the architect.
