Eutopia Homes plans to develop two build-to-rent sites on Ordsall Lane, Salford to create a total of 500 apartments.
The site, marketed by Savills, currently houses a two-storey office building and a warehouse across 1.38-acres. A planning application was submitted on the day the sale completed, according to the developer.
If it wins the go-ahead, this would mark Eutopia Homes’ third development in the UK. Previous developments include the four-acre former industrial Camp Hill development in Birmingham, and a 15-acre housing development on Prince Charles Road in Exeter, which was previously railway sidings and storage units.
Eutopia Homes’ chief executive and co-founder Scott Hammond said via social media: “Great work from the team to pull together the planning application for our two sites in Salford within record time. Application submitted for 500 residential units across both sites on the same day we completed on the land purchase.”
Darling Associates is the architect for the scheme, Pegasus is the planner, Seerbridge is the social value consultant, Wardell Armstrong is the engineering and environmental consultant, JCA is the property management consultant and Hann Tucker is the acoustic consultant.
Eutopia Homes was established in 2017 by Hammond, who previously co-founded Essential Land in 2009 and Essential Living in 2012.
Architect Lorna Henderson is named as a director at Eutopia Homes and previously held roles at Hepher Dixon, Savills, and Turley. Meanwhile, lawyer David Taylor is the current chairman of the company. He was previously joint head of real estate at DLA Piper, and retired from legal practice in 2018.
