Ethel Austin HQ comes to market

Investment fund Ethel Austin Property Holdings has appointed Mason Owen and CB Richard Ellis to market the former Ethel Austin headquarters in Knowsley.

The 426,000 sq ft industrial unit with 14 acres of development land is available to let or for sale.

The premises, now renamed Austin Park, were vacated recently when Ethel Austin entered into administration. Owner Elaine McPherson bought back 91 stores and moved the HQ to Altrincham. She has now raised £70m to expand the chain under the brand Life & Style.

Ethel Austin Property Holdings is part of the pension fund for the Austin family, which ceased involvement with the retail side nearly a decade ago.

The site, on School Lane in Knowsley Business Park, was bought by the late Ronald Austin and was the headquarters for the Liverpool company for 30 years.

Andrew Owen, head of business premises at Mason Owen, said: "The sheer scale of the place is staggering and the possibilities for its future use are huge. It is strategically located less than eight miles from Liverpool and comes complete with extensive quality office space and expansion potential."
