Eric Wright wins school and Media City work

Preston-based Eric Wright Construction has won a £6m contract to extend and redevelop a Barrow secondary school.

Work at Walney School will include a new sports hall and ten classrooms in a steel and timber-framed building with a sedum turf roof. There will be alterations to the existing entrance block with new classrooms and staircase and to the existing dining area with a new lay-out and fitted kitchen and a new science block. Work will start this month.

Eric Wright has also won a £2.5m contract to fit out the Booths store in Media City, Salford. Work on the two-storey Booths supermarket will start in June with completion in September 2011.

It will include a feature lift and staircase, in addition to mechanical, electrical and refrigeration services. Booths own joinery team will complete the bespoke fixtures and fittings to this flagship store.
