Eric Wright Construction has been selected by Cumbria County Council to design and build two dementia care homes, one in the borough of Copeland and one in Carlisle, in a contract worth £10m.
Each home will accommodate around 60 residents with high dependency needs. The projects will not start until late 2017 at the earliest, an Eric Wright spokesman told Place North West, as a team is yet to be assembled.
Eric Wright has become something of a go-to firm for major public projects in Cumbria. In November 2016 it handed over the county council’s new 60,000 sq ft headquarters building in Botchergate, Carlisle, a £10.4m project designed by AHR.
The Lancashire firm also completed a £3.7m creative arts and media building for Carlisle College and a £6.8m Energy Coast University Technical College in Lillyhall in 2014.
