Eric Wright forms care home development JV

The Bamber Bridge-based developer and contractor has established a partnership with Glenholme Healthcare to deliver between 10 and 15 care homes in the next five years.

The joint venture has been formed to target new developments and operating opportunities across Lancashire, Cumbria, Chester, Greater Manchester, and Merseyside, and has already acquired its first site on the Fylde Coast.

Eric Wright and Glenholme purchased Bispham Gardens earlier this year after its operator Spiral Health entered administration. The care home, which provides nursing, palliative and dementia care, will be expanded to include an additional 24 beds from next month.

Christine Winstanley, managing director of Eric Wright Health and Care, said: “This is a significant step forward for the Group; the JV creates a vehicle to help us achieve our strategic objective of expanding our activities and assets in the healthcare sector with a robust partner, which has a strong track record of successfully delivering excellent services.”

Kent Phippen, chief executive of the Glenholme Healthcare Group, added: “EWG’s development expertise in the Northwest coupled with our development and operating experience will enable the group to identify areas which lack high quality provision or require a new pathway of care.”
