Eric Wright completes £28m Copperbox college

Eric Wright Construction has completed a £28m project to design and build the Copperbox – a new home for Furness College.

The four-storey college is partly clad in copper and boasts 140,000 sq ft of space, including classrooms, engineering workshops, laboratories, hair & beauty facilities and a multi-format learning resource centre and library.

It was built on the Channelside side in Barrow.

Eric Wright Construction also refurbished the college's former learning resource centre, using it to provide additional teaching areas, including a gym and sports hall with changing facilities.

Eric Wright Construction is part of the Eric Wright Group, which has its headquarters in Preston.

BroadwayMalyan was the architect for the project.
