Enterprise Mouchel wins five-year Highways deal

Manchester-based joint venture Enterprise Mouchel has won a £149m contract from the Highways Agency to maintain roads in Cumbria and north Lancashire.

Enterprise Mouchel will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the motorways and main roads in Cumbria and north Lancashire from 1 July this year. The contract covers 519 miles (835km) of roads and bridges including the M6 and M55 motorways, the A66, A590 and parts of the A585 and A595.

This contract includes some of the most diverse and scenic sections of the Highways Agency's network, the agency said. The Highways Agency is an executive agency of the Department for Transport.

The Enterprise Mouchel JV was incorporated in 2005 between infrastructure outsourcing specialist Enterprise, headquartered in Leyland, Lancashire, and engineering consultant Mouchel, which is based in London and has offices in Liverpool, Chorley, Ellesmere Port and Prescot.
