Enterprise City announces app for workplace communication  

Enterprise City is Allied London’s concept to connect its creative media and tech tenants who will occupy the commercial element of St John’s, with XYZ and the recently acquired Astley & Byrom House.

The developer collaborated with app creator Ungroup to deliver Dot, a bespoke variation on Ungroup’s workplace Happi app.

The app works on a ‘chance encounters’ basis, which means that when users cross paths with each other, their profiles appear on the other’s screens. The number of times users cross paths with specific people is also shown. This is intended to encourage greater interactivity between staff, improving workplace communication and collaboration.

Dot was unveiled at Ungroup’s annual Worktech conference, held this year in Madrid. The app will form part ECUK’s ‘connecting the dots’ scheme with its ambition to be the most connected workplace in the UK.

Dot will be trialled in the Bonded Warehouse, being refurbished as part of the £1.3bn St John’s, from March 2018.

In September Allied London was given a £16.5m loan from the North West Evergreen Fund to finance enabling work at the St John’s site. The loan will help the pre-development and infrastructure works at St John’s Place, Globe & Simpson, and the Goods Yard.
